The Royal Air Force Regiment was established by Royal Warrant on 01 February 1942. It was formed to provide the RAF with a dedicated ground-defence force, and the Regiment continues to provide combat infantry and force-protection capability in support of RAF assets. Its motto is PER ARDUA, “Through Adversity.”
